~About once a week, my Mom takes the kids for a few hours and spends some quality time with them doing a number of things. They do anything from baking cookies, playing @ McDonalds playground, escapades to the dollar store, seeing the puppies at the mall etc.-You know all the things kids beg to do, but as a Mom you say:"we'll see." Well Grandma Kathy actually does them! We call it "Grandma Day."
~A few weeks ago my mom took them into the Temple visitors center. They saw the Christus statue and played on the beautiful grounds of the temple. They loved it. She captured this little photo of them with Mesa Temple in the background. They know it is a special place and hopefully someday they will have that desire to "go inside someday."
~This next week we plan to go in the evening and see the gorgeous Christmas Lights on the grounds.

that is such a sweet picture. Tanner always asks to go there to see his friend Jesus. If all goes well we'll be going next month sometime. I'll let you know.
Am i loosing my mind? I thought i just read something about your mom taking the kiddies to the temple??? Now it's not there. anyways, i just wanted to say HOW NICE of your mom. Not only to give you a break, but more importantly to build a bond/friendship with her grandchildren. GO GRANDMA KATHY! :) People keep asking what they should get marina for c-mas & her b-day ... i keep telling them that she remembers events or things they do together a lot more than she remembers any gifts. i'm sure you're kids are the same way...they forever talk about what they did, not what they got.
you're right on becky..i bet my kids couldn't remember 2 gifts they got last year..but they'll remember the events & special moments.
What a great grandma! The Hendersons (do you know Stacy, she is in the ward) went on Monday and said the lights are beautiful (as usual)! I hope to go this weekend! Have fun! Your kids are lucky to have Grandma day so often!!!
Your mom is so cool! Your kiddies are lucky to have someone like that in their lives. I'm gonna have to remember this when I'm a grannie. :)

steph..easy solution:move back! haha -just realize by the time you have 3 kids you'll probably be back down here to have grandma time! i know the kiddies would love to have ethie there too though:(
how sweet of youe mom to do that! I would love to do that as a tradition someday when I get the chance to be a grandma! Can't wait! Your mother is a sweetie.
