Snow on the Desert Mountains!

Last week we enjoyed some beautiful rainy weather here in the valley. One day I awoke to take Spence to school & saw this site out my window:

It made me miss Flagstaff-at least for a second... I don't miss driving in the snow/ice but I DO MISS being able to look out my upstairs window and seeing the beautiful snow covered San Francisco Peaks. So this site here has motivated us to make the drive up soon to play in the snow before it all melts away.

ASL~Love Story Video

~This is kinda random but I thought I'd post this video of my little sister Sara & her friend. She did this as a project at the end of last semester for her Sign Language class. I thought it was so cute & goes with the whole Valentine's/Lve Theme.:) (Watch the end-it's the cutest!) Isn't she so adorable?!

Showin' the LOVE

Here's Kaylea leaving on Friday the 13th to go to her School Valentine's Party. Kaylea was so excited to have me attend the "big" party, see the kids in her class, where she sits etc. I'm so glad that my kids still are at the ages that they love when I come to their school!
(And here's Daylan just showin' the Love.)

~So Kaylea came home after school shouting that this was her best day ever! (I love that they get so thrilled about the little things.) They were stoked that in their classes they had smoothies/ice cream sundaes. I had also surprised them both with chocolate candy-grams that were sent to their classrooms. After school her & Spence dumped out their bags in the middle of the room & showed each other their valentines from friends in their class. Remember those days?

♥Happy Valentines Day!♥

To all of you I say:
On Valentine's Day we think of those
Who make our lives worthwhile,
Those gracious, friendly people who
We think of with a smile,
I am fortunate to know you,
That's why I want to say,
To a rare and special person.
Happy Valentine's Day!

And to my very own Valentine:

 2006
spring 1999 (don't laugh at the overalls)
 2004 -Russia
Valentine's Day 2005 (pregnant with Daylan)
2008
I never knew when I wished for you
That the wish I wished would soon come true.

I never knew when I dreamed of you
In the dreams I dreamed You would love me too!

PART 2: Project Pink!

*This is a follow-up post to my PART 1 post from last week about the desire to obtain the IDEAL image.

My friend Venessa who serves on the Higley School Board directed my attention to PROJECT PINK, a FREE event that will take place February 28th at Higley High School addressing this very topic. It's something that sounds like it would be beneficial to all of us women.

~I discovered also that my old neighbor & friend Heather Madder will be speaking at it. (Daylan wants to marry her daughter.) Anyways she is WONDERFUL! Heather has written books, made Talk CDs and been a radio show host talking on this subject. She will be speaking at this event on "Loving Yourself from the Inside Out."

*What an important lesson we ALL need to master & then go on to teach our daughters!*
Also one of my sister's friends growing up, Brooke Nelson will be there speaking as well. This past year she was titled Mrs. Arizona 2008.

**So CLICK to go to ProjectPink's BLOG giving more information, put in on your calendar & then take your daughters!

*Let us forget what the media has trained us to be & now retrain our minds to what we already know. We have all been created uniquely by the hand of God and must respect who He wishes us to be.

We don't have to be & look like what they tell us to. Let us learn that who we are naturally is who we should love & accept; And that true beauty begins from the inside out! Let us teach our daughters that being our unique selves is beautiful & brilliant.

~As hard as we try though our daughters are still bound to see all this:.....

....So let's prepare them in every way we can.

When you have an older sister....

........this is bound to happen at some point in your life.
Spencer joined in on the festivities as Kaylea & him decked Dude out in 5 dress-up dresses all on top of each other.
Daylan just liked the attention....uh I hope.

Scales, Doctors & Pounds Oh My!

~Last Monday I went to my monthly checkup at the doctor's office. I began the typical routine by jumping up on the beloved scale. I saw the numbers keep going and going until they stopped at a number I hadn't seen in a while...

The nurse let out a...
"Yahoo!"
I let out an...
. "Oh my!"

Can you say growth spurt? ~Let's just say I gained as much in the last 30 days that I had in the first 4 1/2 months combined. ...8 pounds in 1 month!
-1 MONTH People!Isn't that like 3 oz. a day or something? And I still have 3 months to go! How much bigger can I get?  Whew! And let me tell you I could show you where each of those pounds went to! (I'll spare you on that.) My body is trying to figure out where to put this baby. For instance after I eat a meal, I have to arch my back just so my lungs can breathe. Painful! I have NO TORSO which doesn't make any of this any easier.

I've come to the reality that the belly is just getting
bigger from here on out. Goodness-it's sure funny how the pregnant mind really does forget all of this stuff. You'd think I'd be a pro at this by now. But -Nope!

The
wonderful part about it all is that my little baby boy is growing...and growing each day. Thursday at the dentist he was doing all kinds of gymnastics as he heard & felt the vibration of the doctor drilling my tooth. It was so fun to have him jumping around. I actually enjoyed the experience of getting a crown on my tooth! How funny is that?
*Isn't He Cute?*

Daylan has been so sweet lately with my pregnant self. I've been so exhausted these past few weeks that whenever I lay down I immediately fall asleep.-SO not like me! I'll usually awake to Daylan, my prince charming, kissing me out of my slumber. Often times he'll kiss my belly and say "I love my baby."

-makes all those pounds worth it!

Something to think about:

~I think one of the plagues of Our Day is that as a whole we strive so much to look & act like celebrities in the magazines & movies. Why are they our role models to how we should look or should have our hair or how we should dress?...the purse we should carry or the shoes we should wear.

....And boy when they talk we LISTEN to them, WATCH them & then of course COPY them! Remind you at all of the term graven images? Isn't our culture in a way worshiping these people? Isn't our culture taking & quoting the words that these celebrities say as if it were practically scripture!?...and of course following them more than actual scripture. Let's not forget the mindset of our liberal country today & remember how we got here...Uh hem...Yes Hollywood.

~Let's not also forget to mention that these are probably some of the most CoNfuSed people on earth! Sure they might have fabulous hair, clothes & accessories, BUT just because they're  SMILING on the red carpet does that mean they are truly HAPPY? No. Then why are we striving so hard to emulate them? Because we want our hair, nose, lips to look like the girl on the magazine cover? Why do we let them tell us what our society must be like? C'mon we're smarter than this!....aren't we?

*And just so we all remember that even celebrities are Human! Click here for some pictures!

Hey if we all had personal trainers, chefs, cosmetic surgeries, legendary makeup artists, expensive makeup & designer clothes wouldn't we all end up looking "that" way. But is that really what we want? I think not!-although the adversary might lead us to believe so & often I think we fall for it. Especially us girls & women who are bombarded with images of what we should ...I mean must look like.
*Does this become a priority in our lives to become this ideal image?

What are your thoughts?
